Exercise Needs

The Italian greyhound as a small sighthound forms part of the toy group, and can therefore be classified as a lap and indoor dog.  Their favourite activity during the day is sunbathing followed by short bursts of energy. Being sighthounds, they do enjoy exercise, and a nice walk or run as adults are advised. They do not have a need for a big yard as most of their days are spent lazing around. With most areas in South Africa having an active community an Italian Greyhound has a field day

If you give your pet exercise and play time it will surely intensify your bond and get rid of any excess energy.

So, here is to spending many hours with your Italian Greyhound!

Your puppy’s exercise needs to be limited especially no jumping, walking up or down stairs, no launching off beds and couches when they are young, as their bones have to grow before they have proper bone joints and to thus prevent more serious issues later in life as hip dysplasia and orthopaedic conditions.

In conclusion, Italian greyhounds do not have high activity needs but do enjoy walks and runs so if you live in an apartment an Italian Greyhound might still be the breed for you.
